Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Here’s this year’s Christmas card:
I am always excited about what’s to come – next weekend, the next day off from school, or the next holiday. As a new year quickly approaches, I try to remind myself to enjoy the “now” and the “what’s past.” Looking back on 2013, Brian and I have had a lot of adventures, and again, we have much to be thankful for! Highlights from the year:
The list of highlights just gives you short snipets of our year. It’s been an amazing year, with one of the most memorable things being our trip to Taiwan. My parents blessed us beyond measure by taking us to Taiwan for a week. This was actually the first time Brian and I had flown together. Up until this point, any trip we had taken as a married couple was within driving distance! It was a transformative experience that we will never forget. I got to see our old house, my preschool, and even the hospital where I was born. We got to see tea plantations and sightsee, and Brian began learning some Chinese. Taipai is a beautiful city – A huge city that doesn’t feel like a city. There is a flow and consideration that I loved. I also loved seeing and hearing my parents back in the culture, back at home. They picked up right where they left off 25 years ago. Mom would listen and translate; Dad would hold the conversations. Amazing experiences! If we could have stayed, we would have! The more recent months of 2013 – the “now” experiences – have brought joy as well. We are thankful and happy. This is a good stage of life to be in! I have a new attitude and excitement about work. I am actually halfway through with my 7th year of teaching! (Where has the time gone!?) Brian has been busy composing and working…and winning awards! (He wouldn’t tell you that, but I will! I am so proud of him. He’s incredibly talented and good at what he does!) We have made some amazing new friends – our mirror couple – that we love spending time with. There have been many dinners shared at Taco Mac or late nights of games & movies. With 2014 around the corner, I am looking forward to the possibilities the new year brings.
